Vimal S. Mehta (www.vimal mehta.com), 64 yrs young, is a Mechanical Engineer from NIT, Kurukshetra with Post Graduate qualifications in marketing, sales and international trade from reputed institutions including Indian Institute of Foreign Trade (IIFT- a deemed university ), New Delhi and Trinity College, Dublin, Ireland ( UK) . He is also a certified “Quality” professional as “lead assessor” from UK. Qualified Lead Assessor for
Quality Management Systems (ISO-9000) (Certificate No. 96/1247 registered
with IQA International Register of Certificated Auditors – (UK) (1996).

A distinguished photoartist , Mehta is essentially a self taught photographer. Recipient of many awards and distinctions , Mehta has offered his services as member jury to many institutions and organisations including youth hostels association of india , Russian centre for science and culture ,many photography clubs and in international salons of photographic society of America organised by India international photographic council .

A resident of capital city of India ,Delhi for last more than 35 years ,Mehta has visited more than twenty five countries in last 30 years. These include; USA, Canada, Mexico, UK, France, Germany, Italy, Belgium, The Netherlands, Spain, Switzerland, Norway
Portugal, Greece, Ireland, Turkey, South Africa, Mozambique, Japan, Dubai, Abu Dhabi ,
Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand, Nepal, Bhutan ,srilanka, ujbekietan etc. in various connections including visit to photography and art galleries .Mehta has interacted and delivered talks in many countries on the subjects of fine art, photography and cinema.

At present, Mehta is President of Forum of Indian photographers and artists (www.fipaindia.com), a regd. organization, engaged in promoting all branches of visual arts including photography.

Mehta has held 7 solo shows of his works and has been a part of over 100 group shows across India. His solo shows have been held at Mumbai, Delhi, Kurukshetra and moradabad. In Delhi his works have adorned all galleries including Aifacs,Triveni ,IiC ,Aparna ,Gandhi, and Lalit Kala . His recent shows include “Amazing India”, a three artists photography show held at Gandhi Art gallery in July 2018. As usual, this show received tremendous media attention and was covered by as many newspapers including The Hindu, Amar Ujala ,Jagran etc

He participated in the first ever “International Kala Mela” organised by Lalit Kala akademy ” in February 2018. A life member of all the prestigious photography associations, Mehta was awarded coveted title of AIlPC in 1996 and IIPC Gold in the year 2000 by the International photographic council of India.

His works have been displayed in many countries and publications in India and abroad. For the last three years (2016,17& 18) ,his works have been part of international art exhibition of St.Petersburg academy of art, Russia . Both FIPA and his contribution has been acknowledged in the book published by world’s leading publishers Rizzolli ,New York , with the title “Splendors of Islam Mosques” (2017).

A keen photography , art and cinema enthusiast , Mehta has organised a number of art/photography camps, competitions,seminars workshops and film festivals ,both national and international under various banners across the length and breadth of the country including the Andeman and Nicobar Islands.

Mehta’s interests are beyond still photography and even in cinema are not restricted only to film society movement, but he has also produced a few short movies and been a casting director for a feature film and assistant cameraman in yet another. A very active member in his film society namely CFF (www.citizensfilmforum.webs.com) ,Mehta was elected as a Hony. Secretary in 2010 , a position which he still holds. CFF ( Regd. In 1980) has always been a very active society but under his leadership reached newer levels and awarded Pritiman Sarkar award for being the best society in entire NR region of FFSI. Mehta has been a member of many review committees for selecting films for festivals and screenings. In the year 2016, he was a member of jury team in the Tromso international Film festival in Norway.

He has worked as General Manager ( culture and protocol) in India Trade Promotion Organisation (ITPO) , a nodal body of Govt. of India for trade promotion. According ly, he has been part of many cultural activities Besides , his interest in photography and cinema also dabbles in filmmaking with DSLR cameras and as an actor. A few of the
short and feature films, he has been associated with have been selected in national and international Film festivals.

He is festival director of one international film festival and been a member of organising committee of a few more.

India and abroad and have been a guest faculty for different subjects at
different institutes in the past. The subjects include events management,
trade promotion, photography, art promotion, cultural exchange through cinema
and art etc
